Project Brief

For this 2018 project, the assignment was to propose a new signage and identity system for the applied arts building and School of Art and Design at UW-Stout. My aim was to make a modern, multi-faceted identity that would show off the variety available in the arts major.

The final design changed to jewel tones that itroduced more light into the somewhat dark inner hallways. The central shape is a multi-faceted clamshell which holds the room number and represents the multi-faceted nature of an art education. Other signs are extrapolated using the same color scheme and facet theme.

A series of mockups were made applying the designs to photos of the building itself to create a more persuasive pitch. Similarly, a functional model of a representative sign was created.
