Graphic Design is rewarding, creative, and important. Kids in k-12 don’t have the opportunity to learn about graphic design. So we make games that teach design to kids, in or out of the classroom. Chameleon games is dedicated to sharing the concepts of graphic design with a wider audience. Each game is intended to function as a stand-alone activity while also being available as a resource for any art educator who would like to teach fundamentals of design.
The final design for 'chameleon' is a simplified version of the animal icon. The goal is to be fun and cute without becoming too saccharine or childish. The design comes in four primary colors and each game package and print material will be availble in the same four colors.
The primary game for this line is called 'off brand'. In this game players compete to design logos by combining translucent cards to create new combinations of icons. In gameplay similar to Apples to Apples, the game includes three ways to play and a section of educational tips for teachers. For this I designed and printed over 100 unique cards and icons.
The secondary game is called 'In Character' and requires players to draw what they think missing letters in a typeface look like based on a representative sample. It includes cards with alphabets on one side and samples on the the other. Each card includes a fact about typography for further educational use.
